With my new experience of babysitting children of late for a little income and reading two books ont he topic of Home Schooling I have something that I would like to share about home schooling.
The two girls I take care of while the mother works are home schooled. The little boy who is the great grandson of my friend who's property I live on will be going to public school this fall.
When I babysit these two girls the TV cannot be on, I must spend more time with them in activity and communication. With the little boy who is not of our church I can let him watch TV and do more things I want to do when he is with me. I fear for this little boy the influence of even children's shows could be doing great harm to him. I have made a decision that when he comes next time that there will be less TV and do more things with him than I have been doing.
If any of you have an interest of reading a true story, there are two books written by a friend of mine mother. They are called As Geese Fly South and Behind the Next Tree of a mother who fought the system years ago and won the right to home school her boys. I have seen the end results of her efforts of knowing one of her sons.

These books are not about home schooling itself, but the effort and courage of one mother to make a difference in her boys lives to home school them at time in the United States when it was made very difficult to do so.
